Controversial rock singer responds to his entire band leaving him behind

As I Lay Dying lead singer Tim Lambesis on Monday offered his first statement since all four of his band members recently quit the popular metalcore band.
Lambesis was previously convicted of hiring a hitman to kill his estranged wife in 2014. The singer then pled guilty to solicitation of murder and was sentenced to a six-year prison sentence. After serving two years, Lambesis was released on parole in December 2016.
The band reunited in 2018 but has essentially broken up again. Last month, drummer Nick Pierce, guitarist Ken Susi, and bassist Ryan Neff announced their departure through their respective social media accounts. Susi pointed out on Instagram that his “personal morals have recently been tested to a breaking point.”
Then last week, guitarist/vocalist Phil Sgrosso, AILD’s longest-tenured member besides Lambesis, stated he was leaving the band as well. Sgrosso’s post on Instagram echoed Susi’s sentiments, saying, “As I Lay Dying no longer offers a healthy or safe environment for anyone involved—whether creatively, personally, or professionally.”
In Lambesis’s open letter, he acknowledged the “unhealthy environment” and said that he and Sgrosso “no longer saw eye to [eye] personally, creatively, or financially.” Ultimately, Lambesis says that As I Lay Dying will continue with a new crew sometime in the future.
As I Lay Dying’s eighth album, “Through Storms Ahead” will be released on Nov. 15.
