Vintage Brena Oaxaca Mexican Art Pottery Hot Chocolate/Coffee Set

A 16 piece vintage Brena Oaxaca Mexican art pottery hot chocolate or coffee set.  This beautiful set includes 6 cups, 6 small plates, 2 carafes with lids, creamer with lid and a sugar bowl with lid.  This handmade clay tableware reflects the cultural background of Mexico with its native shapes, colors and patterns as well as Arabic influences of design. All pieces are glazed medium and tawny brown with black accents. The six cups with their right angle shaped handle they fit very nicely in your hand.  Measurements are approx. 2 1/4" height x 3 1/2" wide (including handle) x 2" deep.  They hold 2/3 cup liquid.  The plates measure approx. 6 1/4" in diameter and have a 1/2" flared up edge. The first carafe measures approx. 7 3/4" with lid on and 6" wide from handle to spout.  It will hold four cups of your favorite beverage.  The larger carafe is 7 3/4" tall with lid and 7" wide from handle to spout.  It is designed with an open design spout.  It holds 4 1/3 cups liquid. The lids of the carafes are interchangeable. The creamer measures approx. 4" tall with lid and 4 1/2" wide handle to spout.  The creamer holds 2/3 cup.  Finally, the sugar bowl measures 5" wide handle to handle.  2 3/4" tall with lid and the diameter is 3 1/2".  All pieces are marked on the bottom BRENA OAXACA MEXICO.  Condition: This is a vintage set so there is over crazing on most pieces, most noticeable on the cups and plates.  I do not know what type of glazed was used on the set. One plate has a tiny fleabite chip.  Three of the cups have fleabite chips on the edge.  One has a 1/4" chip and another has cracked and repaired handle (see picture 9).  Both carafes are in good condition with no cracks, chips or repairs.  One of the lids has a very tiny fleabite chip.  The creamer has a fleabite chip on the handle and a 1/2" chip on the lid.  The sugar bowl is in good condition with no chips, cracks or repairs.  This is truly a beautiful set.  Being handmade and decorated there is expected irregularities in clay, paint as well as shape all of which makes it unique.  Please ask any questions you may have.
