Based on the 1955 novel by Alec Waugh. A white plantation owner's son on the fictional Caribbean island of Santa Marta competes with a young Black labor politician for political office. Controversial upon release for its frank discussion of race relations, and for its portrayal of several interracial relationships.
Shot on Grenada and Barbados.
