Why is acid-free important?
High acid content sleeves leach into the paper of your packet and degrade the paper of the packet.
The goal is to protect the paper packet not degrade the paper.  We use domestic vinyl which is acid-free
and does not leach into the paper.  Our California factory custom orders the domestic vinyl for us.
How can you tell if you have low acid sleeves?
Use your nose!  The higher the acid content, the stronger the smell.  Our packet sleeves do not have this odor.

Why Packet Sleeves?
For over the years View-Master Packet collectors have been placing their 3-reel Packets in plastic sleeves for protection and preservation. But for years everything tried was left lacking for want of various qualities.
Usually if the sleeves were even remotely close in fit, they were too thin and soft and required a carboard backing which obscured viewing the back of the packet. And there was never a means to close the sleeve without use of messy and potentially dangerous tape.
Then in 1992, 3Dstereo.com introduced the vinyl 3-reel Packet Protective Sleeve. This sleeve is many times thicker than previous sleeves offering not only protection and presevation but support, and halting any further damage to the perforated edges of later Packets, all this without requiring any backing at all. And by just tucking in the top flap, the sleeve is neatly closed  able to be opened and reopened without fear of damage to your Packet or sleeve.
