I started my journey as a collector of professional trumpets 16 years ago and since, I have had the pleasure of owning over 800 professional trumpets. Without question, this is the most unique and fascinating.  I am a huge fan of Taylor trumpets and currently own several.   When this custom horn recently became available from the Taylor Custom shop I had to have it.  My personal goal is to play all the great horns and I felt if I didn't experience this one, then my journey would not be complete.
According to Andy Taylor, this one took a tremendous amount of detail hand work and time to complete.  The finish is hard to capture in photos.  It is a high gloss black nickel plated horn with a hand carved one piece leadpipe.  It is hard to imaged the patience to accomplish such a work of art. The trumpet has beautiful lines with a pointed milled finger ring, wedged bottom caps, a ferruless main tuning slide and many other artistic details.   Two of the features I love are the custom fluted mouthpiece and airbrushed image of Darth Vader in the unusual shaped bell.
This trumpet is heavier than most ,but not as heavy as the Standard custom.  The valves are superb ( like all the Taylors) and the sound and feel is similar to the other heavy custom horns that I have played from Taylor.   It is focused, warm and rounded with richness and projection and it is as unique in the sound and feel has it is in looks.
Truly, a One of A Kind , Thank you Andy for letting me experience this. I will certainly own others and I will forever be thankful for the opportunity to play the great horns from Taylor.
