We did some repairs to the original 1932 case that turned out kind of nice. Please note the photo of the bracket inside the case (picture that also shows the Revelation mouthpiece). The original velvet covered wood valve block positioning fixture would no longer work with the addition of the Thumb saddle, so we installed a steel bracket, insulated with plastic heat shrink tubing for protection. It fits on either side of the 2
nd
valve casing for a tight fit, with no trumpet movement inside the case.
As received the leadpipe and mouthpiece receiver were damaged, so we replaced with a Bach 25 leadpipe and receiver which works very well on this trumpet. Also replaced were the inner slide tubes on the main tuning slide for a proper fit. The valves have survived the years wonderfully and still have good compression and nice action.
The original silver-plated finish was retained, but with touch-up plating added as necessary for the repairs performed. Not only did the appearance turn out nice, but the playing performance exceeded expectations. It is a top-level all-around performer with a big, live sound. You will love it! This is destined to be a trumpet player’s “go to” horn!
