    Description
    Antique 17th - early 18th century German Saxon miner's guild axe of characteristic form. The hand forged iron head with visible lamination of forge layered structure and stamped on each face with the maker marks.
    The leading edge drawn up to an acute point capped with a brass finial, pierced with a slipped trefoil and small circles, tubular socket flattened on the inside with chequered rear-hammer peen. Mounted on its distinctive original wooden haft.
