The name of the Kyoto cross comes from the word kyot. A kiosk is a chest, locker, or box for icons. Most often it was made of bronze or copper, covered with enamels for safety.
Church crosses were placed among house icons. Sometimes they were cut into a special Board called a stavrotek, which, in addition to them, could still cut small icons made of bronze or copper, made by casting, and more. But the cross most often occupied a place of honor in the center. Stavrotek had the form of a compact Board with different subjects and necessary elements for everyone's prayer needs.
