Most CD Longboxes reproduce the CD cover art in a square format leaving the rest of the cover mostly uninteresting. This is a great example because the graphic artist took the time to fill the box to make an interesting display box.
CD Longboxes are perfect for the music lover and the ephemera collector. They were in use for about 15 years. When CDs first came out, the longbox retailers could file the CDs in the same bins used for vinyl records. Longboxes are 12" tall. Retailers also liked the longboxes because it made it harder for shoplifters to pocket them. Due to their wasteful nature they were discontinued by 1993
